Nominate A Book

Online Book Nomination Form

NOTE: The deadline for submitting nominations for the 2014 Selection is May 15, 2013. Any nominations made after this date will be considered for the 2015 selection cycle.

The Common Reading Selection Committee invites the NC State community to recommend fiction and nonfiction texts to be considered as the common reading for next Fall’s incoming undergraduate students.

This project creates a common educational and interactive experience that models NC State’s academic values and expectations, including students’ engagement as members of our community of scholars.

Recent selections have introduced students, staff, and faculty to the works and perspectives of authors Mitch Albom, Da Chen, Greg Mortenson, Sheryl WuDunn and Rebecca Skloot.  Most recently, Rye Barcott, author of the University’s 2012 Common Reading selection, It Happened on the Way to War: A Marine’s Path to Peace, engaged our campus through presentations focusing on the informative and inspiring issues raised in this highly acclaimed text.  Each selected author serves as the keynote speaker for the Wolfpack Welcome Week Convocation Festival, and engages in other start-of-the-year activities with the NC State community.

Please read more about the goals and selection criteria of this university effort, and consider completing and submitting a book for the Committee to review.  Perhaps the text you recommend will be our University’s next selection!

Nominations submitted by May 15, 2013 will be included in the review. However, the nomination window remains open and any submissions after May 15 will be considered for the 2015 selection. Nominators are encouraged to review the goals and criteria for the common reading before submitting their suggestions.

Thank you for participating!
